ANONYMITY OF AN OBSERVER
For this series inspiration came from an accidental photograph from a family trip where an auto-focus ended up on the background of a portrait. This lead to creating a project based on moments where my models are observing the space that they inhabit. I borrowed from Helen Sear’s take on portraiture in “Inside the View” where imagery disrupts a more conventional fixed-point perspective. For this project the goal was to create portraiture that captures the background as the subject, being inhabited with a figure that shows the anonymity of the casual observer. Leaving the models blurred to help the viewer read into both the space and the shape of the figures within them.
